The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to coin collecting and the study of money. Since 1891, the ANA has helped collectors of all experience levels learn about coins, paper money, and numismatic history through educational programs, national events, publications, and online resources. Even if this is not an official hobby, collection and evaluation of spare coins can be recreational, if not avocational.
