#DROUGHT, as a hashtag in today's #SocialCurrentSee, has relevance not just to the climate in our semi-arid Inland Empire region of Southern California, but also to the outcome of the 2016 NBA Championship playoffs ending yesterday with the victory of the Cleveland Cavaliers, a franchise that had never won a championship in the four+ decades of their history.

As for the other lead stories of the day, we can note the following TRILOGY
    While related in the concept of #DROUGHT, the TRILOGY of stories compiled in this archive speak to matters of the physical climate and to the political and cultural climate in the USA and around the world.  Just as summer arrives for most of the US, the national elections turn to higher readings as well now that the presumptive nominees (Trump and Clinton) have been selected by the two major parties (Republicans and Democrats).  But have they?  Trump continues to face discontent among traditional party leaders while Clinton awaits a verdict, if not a trial on her sloppy, perhaps illegal mishandling of emails while Secretary of State from 2009-2013.

#DROUGHT, a broad term that generally refers to
 a period of below-average precipitation in a given region, resulting in prolonged shortages in its water supply, whether atmospheric, surface water or ground water. A drought can last for months or years, or may be declared after as few as 15 days. in a general sense, the term may apply to the absence of an event over a prolonged period of time, i.e., "The 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers have ended a long drought of success"
