'When I exercise, I wear all black' ...

Image
When I first found this quote in the 'social current see' of notable golf PGA member Gary Player, I thought, of course, he always wears black.  At least, that seems to be his normal attire when I have seen him on tour.  Guess there is some magic in that for this all-time great and master of the golf game.  I most appreciate him now as one of the few senior players who is very visible on Facebook.

According to Player's bio from this sourceGary Player DMS; OIG is a South African professional golfer, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of golf. Over his career, Player accumulated nine major championships on the regular tour and six Champions Tour major championship victories, as well as three Senior British Open Championships on the European Senior Tour. At the age of 29, Player won the 1965 U.S. Open and became the only non-American to win all four majors, known as the career Grand Slam. Player became only the third golfer in history to win the C…

Game★WORTH timeout: 'charity in sports'

Image
The world of sports has many charitable arms from the professional level (NFL, NBA, NHL, etc.) to the amateur level.  What's more, donating time or money to charitable causes is an important part of many lives worldwide. Close to three-quarters of the more than $400 billion given to charity (USA) in 2014 came from individual households. Giving allows us to help organizations that positively impact the world, it gives us a feel-good factor, and in some cases it can provide us with benefits come tax time.

'Howie do it' : #47 moves across town

Image
MLB neighbors, LAAngels and LADodgers rarely switch players one-for-one, but such was the news Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Howie Kendrick/Andrew Heaney deal.  If you didn't know that LHP Heaney was a Dodger, you are not alone. Heaney never donned a Dodger uniform.  He was an LAD a mere 5 hours Dec. 11.  He started the day as a Florida Marlin, was a Dodger for about 5 hours, and then ended the day with the Angels. Not sure if this is the shortest tenure of an MLB player with one team, but it has to be close.
